Data policy
Basic User Data
Tensorfield.Org stores the following data:
- The name the user uses as author on scientific publications and eventually other common names this person is known under.
- The ORCID-iD of the user.
- The password of the user. User passwords are stored in the form of a salted sha-512 hash.
- The name of the user who invited the user.
- In the case a user uses a service provided by Tensorfield.Org in an abusive way
Tensorfield.Org may store information on these incidents and issued reprimands.
XMPP Service Data
The XMPP service stores additional user data.
The data stored by the XMPP service may vary depending on the specific XMPP client used by the user.
Typically the XMPP service stores
- A list of the user's contacts and bookmarked multi-user chats.
- An archive of messages sent and received. Users can configure or disable message archiving with their XMPP client application.
- Files uploaded by the user.
Modern XMPP clients offer message and file encryption through OMEMO, OpenPGP or PGP
and we encourage users to use this feature to secure sensitive communication.
To improve the users privacy, logging of IP addresses and the protocol extension to communicate the time of last user activity (XEP-0012) are disabled.
